IPTV Player recommendations for a LGTV running WebOS

Hi all,

I’ve seen a few of these posts but they’re all fairly old so wanted to seek for some more updated advise.

I’ve recently found an IPTV supplier and I’m having troubles finding a good media player so I was hoping someone would have some good recommendations/ advise.

Here is a list of what I have used/tried before;

Duplexplay - Brilliant streamer, unfortunately discontinued selling activations :(

Smart IPTV - Worked but the GUI was awful

Ott+ Player - Potentially the best I’ve used GUI wise but streams would buffer a lot, research showed it’s due to the hardware of my TV not being good enough

Smarters IPTV - Another brilliant GUI but was unable to authenticate my log in due to my provider not being on their DNS whitelist thing and it costing $150 for them to do so..

Does anyone have any advise for me? Preferably without having to pay for an Android box, Firestick etc but if I have to I have to

Thank you all, I hope this reaches someone as this has been a problem for me for a few months now

Trying to integrate Xtream with xTeVe and Plex

So for the longest time I've been using xTeVe to import my M3U file and then using that to plug into Plex. I recently wanted to add some new channels and xTeVe is giving me issues with the M3U file location.

I reached out to my provider and he told me that starting in September I needed to start integrating Xtream codes API because "m3u lines kept getting leaked out".

I've looked online and haven't really found much of a tutorial on how to do this. He's telling me I should use Tivimate or m3u4u but I was hoping to just keep my ecosystem the same and not really change anything. That means trying to get this working with xTeVe. Can anyone assist?

Service with M3u4u not all channels showing up

For instance, I have 30 channels in a group. When i load my playlist into M3u4u, it only show up as 3. Is there a reason for this? Basically makes M3u4u useless as I can't really edit my playlist.

Thanks in advance.

Any recommendations for an app for the less technically inclined?

Nvidia sheild pro. I'm new to all of this. I'm a techy but my wife isn't. We watch netflix, youtube, live tv, and downloaded files from a pc share. Kodi app for tv and local files. Netflix and youtube apps. We've been using a laptop up until now but got the sheild for live tv.

Navigating around all of this is a pain. Some apps let you input searches using a keyboard some don't. You've got to switch between apps in a way that is more complicated than using windows since ther isnt a "base os" that you return to when quitting any app.

Are there any simple apps that tie all of this stuff together so it is easier for a non techy to nanage. For instance if the last thing before turning off the sheild was kodi then it starts playing that file when you turn it on even when using netflix so there are 2 programs playing at the same time. Then i have to come fix things.

Figured out the cause of my buffering

If anyone is dealing with buffering themselves here's something you can try. Try changing your wifi from 5ghz to 2.4ghz and vice versa. There must be something nearby causing interference on the 5ghz band because as soon as I changed it to 2.4ghz the difference in performance was immediately noticeable. My streams don't go out of sync anymore. Audio isn't dropping out. I still get some very minor buffering but that's likely a problem at the source. At any rate it's better than before and content is actually watchable now. Amazing what kind of problems bad wifi can cause.

Pull feeds form a client app?

My internet provider also has an IPTV service. However they provide an Android box with a preloaded IPTV client. I'm wondering if anyone has had luck taking a legit service like this and using 3rd party apps? I'm wondering if I could snoop the stream URLS and then use my own player.

Pair TV controller with Xiaomi mi box

Hello. I recently bought a xiaomi mi box and I use it to see iptv (via the stb emulator). The bad thing is that the xiaomi controller has too less buttons, and unfortunately I am not able to to move forward a move let's say, and do other things.

Is it possible to use my own LG TV controller with the xiaomi mi box? If yes, how can I set it up?

Thanks a lot in Advance

Sony TV vs Firestick vs Shield

If all I’m planning on doing is IPTV, is there a meaningful difference in doing it thru the tivimate app on my Sony smart tv vs getting a firestick or a shield? I’ve seen people say shield isn’t worth it if you’re only doing IPTV, but want to know if smart tv apps are inherently not as good as streaming device apps.

Thanks in advance

Smarters buffering question

Have fire tv hard wired, my provider is centurylnk, fiber internet, seed test says 208 mbps download 209 mbps upload, ping 4ms. Hard wired because I had pathetic internet until recently, now I have fiber wasnt an option before. Tons of buffering so I got nordvpn, first try college football not 1 buffer all day. Next day lots of buffering. Cleared cache made sure vpn was on. Changed countries on vpn still buffering though not as bad without vpn. Not much else using bandwidth, lights, cameras, nest tstat, vacuum. Wondering if I pick a location on vpn closer to me would that help? Maybe thats why no buffer the first time I got lucky on location? I've been letting vpn chose location I just tried different countries to see if that would help. Have a feeling problem is on smarters end, too many customers for their servers, thoughts? btw I'm a noob at all this.

Firestick or Nvidia?

Hi, I gather Nvidia is superior, but if all you’re doing is using IPTV, and maybe especially if you’re only using it connected to a iPhone hotspot, with 10mbs connection, will it still be superior under those circumstances, or will they both be equal/equally bad? Apple ATV generally streams well, will these be basically the same?

Thanks

Record location

UK Advice Needed: FreeSat/IPTV

I'm very new to the world of FreeSat and IPTV having been a Sky customer for 15+ years. Can anyone help me better understand the hardware required to plug into my old Sky Q dish (I'm replacing the LNB with a hybrid 6-port) so that I can access both the FreeSat channels and also possibly explore IPTV on the same box?

I'm looking at the huge range of Vu+/Gigablue etc. and am totally confused. I'd like to be able to record to an internal HDD and (ideally) connect it to my Plex server laptop too but I understand that bit is more complicated so happy to put that on the backburner.

Can anyone help me understand this better? How many satellite inputs will be needed? Will I be able to add IPTV firmware to it etc.?

Again, apologies for the very amateur level questions but I'm hoping to learn and appreciate all help.

Tivimate Time-based Recordings

My EPG is horribly incomplete/incorrect. With 1800+ channels available, that is ok. But I'd like to be reminded to tune to certain channels at certain times. This seems like it should be possible to do within tivimate, but I can't seem to find the relevant feature. Many thanks, in advance.
