Questions on IPTV

I've been trialling IPTV services and I have a few questions;

  1. Tried about 5 from AliExpress and they all had the same problem. The channel I wanted was "live events only" (which is fine) but when a live event started, it never came on. My understanding is that there are limited "master" sellers so these sellers had all the same "master" seller who didn't put the event on, but other IPTV users said they had it so they used a different "master" provider. Is this correct?
  2. Is there a way to find out which "source" a reseller uses short of asking them? I want IPTV for one channel, the rest are just there for the sake of it so if it's the master source that doesn't put on the live event, I don't want it.
  3. I was streaming on my PC using VLC onto my Chromecast. The channel I had on kept sticking. I don't mind as I'm "getting what I paid for" but what I would want is for it to sort itself. Rather than me going back to my PC, clicking on the link and it working again, I want it to go "oh, I'm fucked, let me refresh the stream"... can IPTV or whatever I'm using to stream IPTV do this?
  4. As much as I'm streaming it from VLC on my PC to Chromecast, am I better getting a dedicated box/Firestick? I'm assuming that will make it all smoother.

Nvia shield worth it for iptv?

I have a Amazon fire tv box and I have it hooked up with wired at&t internet. I use Dieseltv iptv service and last UFC and boxing ppv it kept buffering. Wondering if the nvia shield would make things smoother when streaming. I also use ipvanish with it, and my internet speed is one of the middle high speed dsl packages.

Fastest VPN for IPTV?

As the title states, let's compare which VPN providers slow down your IPTV connection and which work at full speed.

Currently using PIA VPN and it regularly kills my speed from 100+ Mbps down to as low as 8 Mbps.

I'm finding their service extremely inconsistent.

What is everyone else using and what is your experience?

Best media player to play mkv files?

Currently using a IPTV provider service with it's own app but sadly the VOD service does not work well with it's built in player. There is a option to play via another media player and I have been using VLC player but I have noticed that it has been struggling with MKV files. Can anyone recommended another media player? I am viewing on a Android box.

m3u4u.com and EPG

I have two IPTV providers including one test URL and a paid URL. Both provide great quality channels but the EPGs aren't great. I tested out m3u4u.com and produced a much improved EPG.

Here's my question: my URLS have my user/pass credentials embedded in the M3U link (and throughout the xml). Should I be concerned uploading the url to the site? I have 2 concerns (1) the obvious threat of someone gaining access to my credentials, and (2) the possibility that my provider will lock me out thinking I'm trying to share the service as m3u4u downloads the xml from the provider after I provide the url.

I tested using my test account that was set to expire today - so no harm done. But I'm worried to create an epg using my paid service.

Is there a better (and still free) way to go about this? Am I worrying needlessly and should I use m3u4u? Any thoughts or help appreciated.

Authentication error with MAG324

When I turn on my box, I get a login and password screen which I don't have either. Is the box itself or the server of the provider? Anyone else ever have this issue? I don't have access to the reseller anymore so I don't have anyway to be sure. All I know is one of the portals has a url of "patel7.net" and the ntp server is "pool.ntp.org"

Any help would be greatly appreciated

MAG 324W2 vs 322W1

My MAG254 just stopped working. Apparently the HDMI port no longer outputs audio. So I have to replace it. Is either of these really better than the other for pure performance if we ignore features?

I don't use WiFi only ethernet and I don't have any need for 4K streaming from my provider. The ability to pick up OTA channels would be cool but apart from that I JUST get 1080 and less streams of TV.

So beyond those first features, are they essentially the same?

Redirect url to stb portal

I have my own domain. I created a subdomain and attempted to redirect that to an stb url. I tried the url on both smarter and a mag box and it doesn't work.

The reason I want to do something like this is so I can just give my people my url and if there are ever issues, I simply change my redirect and no issues for end users.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Recommendations to cast IPTV streams to Chromecast from a Mac?

Hi there,

I've been using my phone with some IPTVs apps and casting to Chromecast and has been working great, but it's using a lot of my phone power for transcoding, etc. BubbleUPNP is a good solution, but I was looking for a solution where I don't have to use my phone.

I'm planning to buy a Shield 4K soon, but in the meantime, any recommendation of casting my IPTVs streams from a Mac laptop to Chromecast? VLC works ok, but it lacks categories filtering and EPG.

EDIT: I tried Bluestacks but seems it lacks Chromecast support?! Another downside is that it uses a lot of CPU.

Is my local reseller lying to me?

There's a guy in town that resells IPTV service and it constantly has issues with channels timing out. I use IPTV Smarters. I've used other reseller's trials using Smarters and haven't had the same issues. He tells me that it's my internet provider. My internet is 100mbps+ and not an issue. He says he has to reboot his servers everyday and now he's blaming it on PS Vue shutting down since that's where the streams come from. I was just curious if this was actually the truth or if I'm dealing with a shady guy with a crappy service? Thanks in advance for your replies!

The most expensive service you've used? How much was it and was it worth it?

Just had an offer from a service that's been around for a while and had a lot of good testimonials from users in private. Although it barely gets a mention on this subreddit. Problem is its 25 quid a month. Just wondering if these "premium" services are actually worth it or just reselling a cheap product for a bigger margin.

Do IPTV providers have a single tuner for each subscriber?

I can’t imagine how this works behind the scenes - do they have rows and rows of USB dual tuner TV sticks hooked up to the same satellite? Or is there some software defined radio trickery?
